My boyfriend’s laptop’s motherboard is totally shot and now his laptop is useless and Dell will not fix this problem even though it is a manufacturer problem that many people are having with the 5160 series laptop. He went to plug in the charger adapter a couple of days after the battery died and it sparked when he went to plug it in.
Dell is aware of the problem and Dell is still saying that it is not their problem and that he has gotten 3 years out of it. He also owns a Desktop computer therefore he does not use the laptop very often at all. He is very irate that they want to charge him over $400 to fix this problem.
We will never go through Dell for computer needs again. They are supposed to have a 100% satisfaction guarantee and he is very far from satisfied with Dell.

My Boyfriend has this laptop, it is not used very much and due to manufaturer problems with the motherboard over heating it cracked and the charger adapter does not stay in properly and does not charge the laptop. this is a known problem to dell and it is a common issue and they are trying to charge him over $400 to fix it. We both think that is ridiculous and that they should fix the problem. So much for their 100% satisfaction guarantee. We will never go through Dell again and we do not recomend Dell to anyone.
